jewelmint: the fashion industry’s new business model?

the latest issue of lucky features kate bosworth and the jewelry line she started with her stylist friend.

not surprisingly, the pieces are really cute and affordable.

what’s unique about jewelmint is its unique approach to customer relationship management. first of all, jewelmint is like a club. for $30 a month, you get to pick a new piece each month…with the ability to skip months whenever you want. (you’re also not charged until you make your first purchase. sound confusing? read more here.) they also try to determine your “style profile” so that they can recommend things you’ll like. for example, i just put these earrings in my shopping cart, or as they call it, my “showroom.”

then i was asked questions like this:

if you know me at all, you know i picked alexa and balmain.

if i wasn’t so broke, i’d seriously consider doing this. kate is known for having an understated yet sophisticated sense of style, and this line reflects that perfectly. check out the current designs here.
