talbots’ spring ’11 campaign, featuring julianne moore

she. is. stunning.

contrary to popular belief, talbots actually makes some really nice things. in fact, i think their clothes are cuter than most of the stuff in ann taylor or loft…it’s just that no one really goes inside to see for themselves. hopefully, this will change that. i can’t think of anyone better who represents the elegance and ageless beauty that julianne moore embodies.

heck, i want to look like her. and shes older than my MOM.

The ads, shot in a greenhouse by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, reflect Moore’s relationship to the 60-year-old brand: “We have this lush, traditional setting, and Julianne is in the middle of it. She’s strong, confident, and very modern. And it’s very ethereal and sensual.” Moore’s classic but playful style, Smaldone says, is also a great fit for what he calls Talbots’ “tradition transformed” platform. “We want to hold on to the classic pieces, but make them relevant to a woman today,” he says. “We’re not trendy, but our clothes are current and modern.”

“tradition transformed.” i love it.

and the ads are so…editorial. they really look like gucci or something.

on my wishlist: mossimo pilar strappy wedges

i would really like these. they’re from target and only $30! the color is perfect for early spring all the way through late fall, although they sell them in black and nude too. and obviously, i am obsessed with wedges.

too bad i’m moving to a frigid climate where i will probably just have to wear uggs everyday. UGH.

glamour (march 2011): diane kruger

she is definitely in the top 5 of my best dressed list. always.

can you believe shes 34?!?!?

{in chanel jacket, daryl k tee, and j brand shorts}

On what her favorite look is: “A well-cut dress. It’s all about the cut. I love three-quarter sleeves. I definitely like it classic; less is more. The thing I despise most is vulgarity, and there’s a lot of that here [in L.A.].”

On her biggest fashion splurge: “The biggest fashion purchase I ever made I thought about for six years. I’m not kidding. All my life I wanted to own an Hermès Constance bag, and when I signed with Calvin Klein, I decided this was the time that I could afford it. I truly broke a sweat when I paid for it.”

On her boyfriend Joshua Jackson and his style: “We go shopping. But he likes it. I definitely wasn’t fond of these blue sneakers that he wore all the time for about a year and a half.”

On marrying and divorcing when she was younger: “Without sounding pessimistic, I learned that I don’t believe in marriage. I believe in a commitment that you make in your heart. There’s no paper that will make you stay.”

so about those bachelor fashion recaps…

sorrrrrrrrrrrrrrry.

many of you have been questioning my dedication to this weekly endeavor, and rightfully so. i’ll get back to business soon…hopefully next week?

in the meantime, check out the possessionista for all of your bachelor (and other tv) fashion fixes. she tells you what the girls were wearing and where you can snag it for yourself.

today, she has posted an interview with meghan, who got the boot last week. (she was the one that wore the pink d&g wedges the first night.) apparently, meghan used to be a marketing manager for d&g! no fair.

red carpet style: anne hathaway in marni

not what we’re used to seeing from her, but i LOVE it. this outfit is everywhere: mixing prints, combining brown, black AND navy, high waisted cropped pants with a cropped sweater, stripes, and ruffles…but she still looks awesome.

sofia vergara is now designing clothes for kmart.

well, okay.

of course, the clothes look great on the modern family bombshell. but let’s be real. how many average american women (who, by the way, is now a size 14 and 34c) have her body shape? my guess would be not too many.

from wwd:

It’s a daring move for the mass merchant to cater to the younger contemporary crowd with Vergara but, in an interview, she said the collection doesn’t cross the line. “You have to realize that it’s me wearing it. You’ve just seen it on me,” and she’s not your everyday Kmart customer. “All the pieces are very wearable. And we have them in all sizes.”

But she acknowledges the line represents Kmart stepping out. “We’re trying to fill a hole in the store. They wanted to appeal to a younger woman with something a little spicy. The times are changing,” she said.

much of the collection is in the $30 range, with jackets priced up to $59.99

red carpet style: the worst of the 2011 sag awards

warning: the following content may make your eyes bleed.

10. jennifer lawrence in oscar de la renta pre-fall ’11

{at first glance, i thought i liked this, but now that i keep looking at the dress, i’ve decided i DO NOT. mostly, it’s the slit that really bothers me, but i also think a dress of this hue just doesn’t suit her/her makeup.}

9. julie bowen in catherine malandrino

{she almost pulled this off. i mean, she has a rockin’ bod so it’s not hideous, but pantsuits are bad news.}

7. melissa leo in randi rahm

{this isn’t completely unfortunate but definitely a far cry from her amazing globes gown. i expected more from you, melissa leo!}

6. angela kinsey in jovani couture

{pretty sure i have seen jovani prom dress ads in seventeen magazine. that’s all i have to say about that.}

5. eva longoria in georges hobeika couture spring ’11

{i heard this gown came straight off the runway from the paris couture show last week. to me, it looks like one of those toilet paper wedding dresses that you drape on your friend during a bridal shower game.}

4. jenna fischer in fendi

{could she look any frumpier? not only is this drab, but it does NOTHING for her figure. she needs to fire her stylist; i can honestly count on one hang the number of times she has looked good on a red carpet.}

3. christina hendricks in l’wren scott fall ’10

{elvira, is that you? rain makes it hard to look good, but yikes.}

2. kate mara in herve lager spring ’11

{not. flattering. also: headband??}

1. winona ryder in alberta ferretti bridal spring ’11

{yep, you read that right. BRIDAL. and what’s with the black clutch? is she trying to be helena bonham carter?}

red carpet style: the best of the 2011 sag awards

so many more risks taken than the globes…lots of colorful, dramatic dresses! there seemed to be alot of blushes and reds. overall, these ladies should be proud!

so claire danes and mila kunis (and jenny packham and monique lhullier) have made both of my best dressed lists so far…should make for an interesting academy carpet!

10. heather morris in romona keveza

{a modern day glinda the good witch? i love that she wore her hair up to avoid looking too much like cinderella.}

9. sarah hyland in max mara elegante

{age appropriate, simple, and the perfect shade for her color palette}

8. kyra sedgwick in vintage thierry mugler couture

{simple, sleek, she owns this dress.}

7. jayma mays in jenny packham spring ’11

{love this peachy shade. it goes perfectly with her hair. i would have loved to see this without the shoulder detail and asymmetrical bottom and with a chunky turquoise necklace instead, though.}

6. mila kunis in alexander mcqueen resort ’10

{rachel bilson, is that you???}

5. julia stiles in monique lhullier pre-fall ’11

{i usually HATE ombre, but she looks incredible from head to toe. maybe it’s because i didn’t expect this from her, of all people!}

4. january jones in carolina herrera pre-fall ’11

{after her flesh-baring miss at the globes, i’m glad she went with something classy. this look is really …rich? the color of the carpet makes her look like spanish royalty. she really looks like she was transported from a different time and place. amazing.}

3. hailee steinfeld in prada spring ’11

{i really cannot say enough good things about this girl. not many 14 year olds can step out in prada and rock the garment like it was made. for. her…it’s like high fashion with a touch of limited too. in a good way.}

2. claire danes in louis vuitton

{the woman has the enviable ability to turn a pretty and charming dress into a breathtaking ensemble. flawless hair and makeup. jealous.}

1. amy adams in herve l leroux

{white and tight usually make for an unforgivable faux pas (not to mention trashy and distasteful) but she looks GORGEOUS. it takes balls to wear a dress like this…ever, much less 6 months after giving birth?!}
